Chad Doucette at The Mersey during Nova Scotia Music Week From the outset of our concerts it has been my intention to assist in the profiling and supporting younger artists at The Mersey. The advantage of coming from away is that it has given me a perspective on what happens next in the world of entertainment. If we do not support our indigenous artists we will simply lose them. One of the hidden treasures of Nova Scotia and The Maritimes is the strength and depth of its artist talent base. I know of no other region or country with such a wealth of talent at hand and we should all do everything we can to try to preserve this source for the benefit of all. When Patrick Melanson of Killick said to me a few weeks ago that we should start a series of sessions for the benefit of existing and emerging artists he hit the chord in me that had been developing this thought. Please watch for this development which will develop over the winter and spring months. Should any one wish to participate in the forming of this series of sessions, please feel free to call me at any time.
